Sheridan County HS Wrestling: The Sheridan Girls Wrestling Team won their inaugural 8-team home dual tournament on Saturday.
The Lady Broncs defeated Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, Newcastle and Natrona County.
In the championship dual, Sheridan and Campbell County both scored 42 points each, but the Lady Broncs had a 5-4 advantage in pins, thus they won the tie-breaker.
The girls are scheduled to be in action again on January 3rd and 4th at Bozeman, Montana.
As for the Sheridan boys wrestlers, they ended up going 3-3 at the Pat Weede Dual Invitational held in Gillette.
The Broncs as well as Tongue River are next scheduled to compete on January 10th and 11th at the Douglas Invitational.
Sheridan County HS Basketball: Sheridan County teams went a combined 12-10 in various games played last week.
Both the Sheridan boys and girls defeated both of the Casper teams.
The Big Horn boys and girls both lost on Thursday vs. 3A Buffalo and then each of them went 1-2 at the Foothills Classic, that was played in Pavillion and in Ethete.
The Tongue River girls went 4-0 on the weekend, defeating Wind River, Wyoming Indian, Big Piney and Greybull, as the defending 2A State Champs would run their record to 6-1 on the season.
The TR boys went 1-3 in their games played.
Arvada-Clearmont split their Thursday games at home vs. the Thunder Basin freshmen teams, with the girls winning their game.

All Sheridan County High School Basketball teams are off from competition this week and next and will be back in action the weekend of January 9th, 10th and 11th.
Sheridan HS Boys Swimming and Diving: Sheridan competed at the Kelly Walsh Invitational in Casper this past weekend.
In Friday’s preliminary round, junior Ben Forsythe set 3 pool records and helped the Broncs place 2nd out of 8 teams.
On Saturday, Sheridan placed 6th.
After the winter break, the next competition will be the Sheridan Pre-Invite and Sheridan Invitational on January 10th and 11th.
Sheridan Hawks Amateur Hockey: The Sheridan Hawk boys tied and lost this past weekend, in their regular season home finale vs. Riverton.
Friday’s game was a 2-2 tie, and then Sheridan dropped a 4-zip decision on Saturday.
The Hawks have more than 1 month off before they play their next scheduled games which will be on the weekend of January 31st, February 1st and 2nd at Jackson and at Pinedale.
As the Lady Hawks, they easily won both of their games this past weekend at Miles City, Montana.
Friday’s score was 11-2 and Saturday’s score was 13-1.
Sheridan is next scheduled to play on January 11th and 12th at home vs. Cody.
University of Wyoming Football: The Wyoming Cowboys won their final non-conference game of the season yesterday at Cal-State Fullerton 73-69.
The Pokes shot 51% for the game and that ended up making the difference, as the opposition shot 46%.
Kobe Newton led all scorers with 20 points.
Obi Agbim added 16, while Touko Tainamo put in 13.
Jordan Nesbitt was the other double-digit scorer with 11.
The Cowboys are 7-5 on the season and will resume conference play this Saturday at home vs. Nevada.
As for the Wyoming Cowgirls, they won their final non-conference game of the season back on Saturday, at home vs. North Dakota 73-41.
The ladies cashed in on turnovers, scoring 29 points, while the opposition only managed to score only 6 off of Cowgirl miscues.
UW also found ways to get to the free throw line as they were 18 of 19 from the charity stripe, while North Dakota was only 3 of 4.
Tess Barnes led the way with 16 points.
Allyson Fertig put in 15 and Malene Pedersen added in 13.
The Cowgirls even up their record at 6-6 on the season and have this week off from competition.
The team will start Mountain West Conference play on January 1st at home vs. Utah State.
Mountain West Conference Football: So far the conference is 1-0 in Bowl games.
Back on Thursday, UNLV defeated Cal 24-13 in the LA Bowl.
Three other conference teams play this week.
Today at 12:30pm, it’s the Potato Bowl in Boise, Idaho as Fresno State takes on Northern Illinois.
Tomorrow San Jose State plays South Florida in the Hawaii Bowl.
On Saturday, Colorado State will play in the Arizona Bowl against Miami-Ohio.
As for Boise State, they now know they’ll take on Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl on New Years’ Eve.
Denver Broncos Football: Despite last week’s loss, the road to the playoffs for the Denver Broncos is easy.
Win any one of their remaining 2 games, and they’re in.
The Broncos play this Saturday at Cincinnati, starting at 2:30pm.
If the team is not successful, they’ll have one last shot on Sunday, January 5th at home vs. Kansas City.
Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won yesterday at New Orleans 132-129.
The Nuggets next play today at home vs. Phoenix.
Tip-off is scheduled for 8pm.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche went 2-0 in games played this past weekend.
On Friday, the team won at Anaheim 4-2, and won at home yesterday vs. Seattle 5-2.
The Avs next play on Friday at Utah.
