Sheridan:
Sheridan will be in the main event on Saturday as they play Cheyenne East in the 4A State Championship Game for the third year in a row.
The Broncs won comfortably in the regular season matchup nearly 2 months ago, largely because they were to get cash in on Thunderbird mistakes and turnovers.
Head Coach Jeff Mowry says it’s going to be tougher the second time around to get East to make those mistakes, because they’ve changed their playstyle from both the game earlier this season and from last year.
“They’ve drastically changed their offense. They were very much spread and throw the ball quite a bit, some play action and run quarterback run game. If you watched the semifinal against Campbell County, they put 2 linemen in the backfield and they ran the ball 90% of the time. Very very physical right at you. A different style of Cheyenne East football than we saw 1 year ago in the state championship, where they threw the ball 45 times. It’s a very very different Cheyenne East and they’ve come a long ways. This is their identity. They’ve found who they are and they were very very successful against Campbell County a week ago, who is a very good football team and so they’re coming into their own and they’ve found their identity, coming into stride and they haven’t turned the ball over.”
Kickoff is scheduled for 4pm.

Big Horn:
Big Horn will play in the first championship game of the weekend on Friday vs. Cokeville.
The last 2 times these 2 teams met for all the marbles, BH won both in blowout fashion.
Head Coach Kirk McLaughlin, although Cokeville is still Cokeville, they’re not a team to be taken lightly.
“We’ve definitely watched our film from 2018 and 2019 just to see some of things that we did then, because they’re running some of the same stuff, but it is different personnel that they have this year and it’s different personnel for us, so same stuff, some new stuff, because we have changed our own schemes a little bit and we don’t want to change what we do completely. We have to adjust for sure, but we don’t want to completely change it, but our approach is we’ve got a game to go win and they’re not going to roll over and just give it to us. They’re going to fight, they’re going to battle. That’s the kind of character they have down there, so we’ve got our hands full.”
Senior Quarterback Avon Barney says the game plan for the Rams is to get the Panthers off of their plan.
That could be easier said than done.
“They’re a stout group. They’re definitely disciplined, they know how to play football, they’re a very disciplined group, but get them into passing situations, get them our of their game and I think we’ll be very successful.”
Senior Kolby Butler says what Cokeville lacks in talent, the team more than makes up for, in discipline.
“Their culture is pretty phenomenal and their coaches do a good job at making sure they’re disciplined and that they know what they’re doing and I think they’ve mastered their craft and they’re a heavy run team and they’re really good at that and I think if we just go out there and play our ball, it could go our way.”
Kickoff is scheduled for 12-noon.
