Sheridan HS Football: For the past 2 years, it’s been Sheridan and Cheyenne East in the 4A Football State Championship Game, however the final score in the regular season matchup, ended up being closer than the final score in November at Laramie.

The Thunderbirds and Broncs will renew their acquaintances tomorrow in Sheridan, in a matchup featuring the top 2 offenses and defenses in Class 4A.

Sheridan Head Coach Jeff Mowry says in some ways, Cheyenne East and the Broncs are similar in terms of what each team had to deal with when practice started one month ago, and how the 2 teams play now.

“A different team than 1 year ago. They had a lot of seniors 1 year ago and had a great quarterback, great receivers, great running backs and they were prolific on offense and this year they’re more of a run focus. They’ve graduated quite a few guys, graduated some receivers, their quarterback is different and boy they like to run the ball. They’ve scored a lot of points running the ball and so, really got to be on our toes defensively to make sure we can stop the run and force them to pass. So it is a different team.”

Kickoff tomorrow is scheduled for 6pm.

Big Horn HS Football: Big Horn put the rest of the 2A East on notice with their 55-zip beatdown of Wheatland last week.

Rams Head Coach Kirk McLaughlin says he was pleased with how just about everything clicked the way it’s supposed to, at this point in the season.

He adds now it’s onto a Newcastle team that in his opinion, is one of the better teams in the east.

“They’ve got a tough run game, similar to some of the stuff that Wheatland did with unbalanced looks and some outnumbering points of attack. They’ve got some good athletes though and they’ve got good misdirection and a pass game with their offense and then defensively, they’ve got some guys that can play downhill.”

Kickoff tomorrow at Big Horn is scheduled for 6pm.

Tongue River HS Football: This season the injury bug has decided to feast on Tongue River’s roster.

The Eagles got off a great start last week vs. Burns, but then the bug did its thing and the rest of the game slowly went downhill.

Head Coach Steve Hanson says TR has adjusted the best that the team can, and are preparing for a Moorcroft team that has moved up from the 9-man level.

“They look like they match up pretty similar to us. with size and speed wise. We know they’re going to tackle well and they’re going to play hard and moving up back to 11-man and they’re also not fielding 50 kids like a lot of us 2A schools that are trying to get by with the guys that we got. I feel really good about how we matchup and we’ve made our adjustments with the guys that we have healthy at moment and we’re going to be ready for 4 quarters on Friday night at home under the lights.”

Kickoff tomorrow at Tongue River is scheduled for 6pm.
