Big Horn HS Football: One goal that high school football teams may have is to beat the defending champs, but if you can’t get them on the schedule, go after the runners-up instead.

With this year being the start of a new 2-year reclassification cycle, Torrington, who were last year’s Wyoming 2A State Champs, has moved up to 3A.

Since the TrailBlazers are no longer available for 2A teams to play, teams will go after Big Horn instead.

Head Coach Kirk McLaughlin says the Rams are not only fine with that, the players are used to being targeted.

He adds this year the plan is to finish the job.

Senior Quarterback Avon Barney says he likes the circumstances going into this season.

The Rams will play a scrimmage at home against the sophomore team from Natrona County High School, one week from today.

Sheridan County HS Golf: Today is the 2nd day of the Sheridan Invitational at Kendrick Golf Course.

Competition starts at 9am.

Meanwhile, the golf teams at Big Horn and Tongue River are scheduled to begin their seasons tomorrow at Sundance.

Sheridan HS Tennis: Sheridan starts North Conference play today with a match at Jackson.

Tomorrow they’ll play 2 more conference matches at Natrona and at Kelly Walsh.

Next weekend the Broncs and Lady Broncs play at Powell and at Cody.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost last night at Washington 6-1.

Today is the rubber game of the 3-game series starting at 11:05am.

Tomorrow the Rocks will start a 3-game series at the New York Yankees.

Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos have named first round draft pick Bo Nix out of Oregon, the starting quarterback.

The rookie beat out veterans Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson for the job.

The Broncos start the 2024 regular season on Sunday, September 8th at Seattle.

Before that, Denver has one more pre-season game to play which is this Sunday at home vs. Arizona.

Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30pm.

All teams have until next week Tuesday at 4pm Eastern Time, to cut their rosters down to 53 players.
