Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The 2024 season for the Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball team has come to end.
Yesterday, the team was doubled up by the Cheyenne Hawks 8-4 and were eliminated from the Wyoming AA State Tournament in Casper.
Frankie Maestri hit a solo home run for the cause, but it was not enough.
Head Coach Austin Cowen says Sheridan did not underestimate their opponent, rather it was the team didn’t fully execute what they were supposed to do.
The Troopers finish the season with a record of 36-28.
As for the rest of yesterday’s scores from the AA State Tournament…Laramie eliminated the host team, Casper 4-2.
Cheyenne Post 6 clobbered Gillette 14-4 to qualify for the championship game on Friday.
There are 2 games today on the schedule.
At 1pm, it’s Laramie vs. Gillette in an elimination game, and afterwards, it will be the battle of Cheyenne as the Hawks and Sixers play each other, starting at 4pm.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies snapped their 5-game losing streak last night with 2-1 win at the LA Angels.
Brenton Doyle’s solo home run in the top of the 8th inning made the difference.
The rubber game of the 3-game series is today, starting at 7:38pm.
University of Wyoming Football: Fall practice officially started at the University of Wyoming yesterday, and the Jay Sawvel era is underway.
The first of 20 practices ahead of the first game week took place inside War Memorial Stadium.
Now that practice is happening almost everyday, instead of every other day in the spring, Sawvel says he challenged players to be better prepared now, compared to where they were at the end of April.
After 1 practice…so far so good.
The 2024 season starts on August 31st at Arizona State.
