Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: There has been a change to the Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball schedule.

The double-header scheduled for next week Thursday, July 25th vs. the 406 Flyers from Billings has been canceled.

That means this coming Sunday’s conference home double-header vs. Gillette, is now both the home and regular season finale for the team.

It also means it will be the last home game ever for a few players such as Frankie Maestri, who says this will mean a lot to him.

The Troopers are still battling for seeding at the upcoming state tournament.

Other players such Cael Hamrick says he couldn’t think of a better opponent to play than the Roughriders in his last home game.

Gillette is last year’s AA Northwest Regional Runners-Up.

First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 5pm.

The game will be video live-streamed at sheridanmedia.com.

Shane Parker will have the audio play-by-play on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.

Sheridan Jets Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Jets will play their final home games of the season this weekend as well.

The team is hosting an A-League state-qualifying best 2 out of 3 game series vs. the Cheyenne Eagles tomorrow and Sunday.

The post-season format in the A-League East Conference is similar to how they play the super regionals in College Baseball.

Teams are paired up based on what place they finished in, in the conference standings.

The Jets placed 3rd and the Eagles were 6th, hence the Jets get hosting rights.

Games 1 and 2 are tomorrow starting at 2pm.

If a Game 3 is needed, it will be played on Sunday at 10am.

The 4 teams that survive their best 2 out of 3 matchups, qualify for the A-League State Tournament, which will be played next week at Powell.

The Cheyenne Eagles are essentially Cheyenne’s third string team, behind Post 6 and the Hawks.

High School National Finals Rodeo: Competition in Round 2 of the High School National Final Rodeo in Rock Springs is half-way complete.

As of last night, Abigail Olson of Sheridan is still in 1st place in the aggregate standings of the barrel racing.

She has a 0.159 second lead on her next closest competitor.

Round 2 will conclude tomorrow at around noon-time and the top 20 on 2 runs combined in each event will return tomorrow night, to compete in the championship short-go.

Sheridan College Rodeo: Sheridan College is searching for a new coach for its rodeo team.

At the Northern Wyoming Community College District Board of Directors meeting earlier this week, Sheridan College President Dr. Walter Tribley announced that College Rodeo Coach Marc Gilkerson has resigned.

He had been the coach of the program for about 15 seasons and in each of the previous 13 (including the 2023-2024 season), SC has had at least 1 representative in the College National Finals Rodeo.

Gilkerson was named the NIRA Central Rocky Mountain Region Coach of the Year for the 2022-2023 season.

Dr. Tribley says a search for an interim rodeo coach is underway.

Wyoming Coaches Association All-Star Volleyball and Basketball Games: Tomorrow is the Wyoming Coaches Association All-Star Volleyball and Basketball Games that will be played at Casper College.

The Volleyball Game starts at 1pm.

Representing the North team from North-Central Wyoming will be Saydee Zimmer of Big Horn and Holland Stowe of Buffalo.

BH Head Coach Alli Nikont will be the Head Coach of the North Team, and new Sheridan High School Coach Dani Torpey will be an assistant coach.

The Girls Basketball game starts at 3pm.

Sheridan Head Coach Ryan Sullivan will lead the North team and he will get to coach Adeline Burgess, Alli Ligocki and Addie Pendergast one last time.

Tess Rule of Buffalo is also on the team.

The boys basketball game is the last game of the day tomorrow, starting at 5pm.

Eli Patterson of Buffalo will play for the North team.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: All teams are back in action today, now that the All-Star Break is over.

The Colorado Rockies start a 6-game homestand with 3 games vs. San Francisco.

First pitch today is scheduled for 6:40pm.

Tomorrow’s game starts at 6:10pm, and Sunday’s game at 1:10pm.

On Monday, the Rocks will start a 3-game series at home vs. Boston.
