Sheridan County HS Track and Field: Sheridan County High School teams were in Sheridan this past Saturday competing at the Dan Hansen Invitational track and field meet.

Among the winners of note were Landrum Wiley of Sheridan who won both the boys 800 and 1600 meter runs, Garrett Otto and Cameron Perez of Sheridan placing 1st and 2nd respectively in both boys hurdle races, Carly Norman of Buffalo winning both girls hurdles races, Gavin Stafford of Big Horn winning the boys 100 meter dash and the boys long jump, and Sheridan speedster Addie Pendergast of Sheridan winning the girls 100, 200 and 400 meter dash races.

Sheridan is scheduled to compete tomorrow at a meet in Gillette.

Big Horn, Tongue River and Arvada-Clearmont are next scheduled to compete on Friday at Buffalo.


Sheridan HS Soccer: Sheridan had a mixed bag of results from this past weekend.

The boys had to settle for another 2-2 tie on Friday at Laramie, then won on Saturday at Cheyenne South 5-1.

The girls lost at home vs. Laramie on Friday 2-1, then won on Saturday vs. Cheyenne South 3-nil.

Both teams are scheduled to be back in action this Friday and Saturday vs. Cheyenne Central and Cheyenne East.

The boys will play at home and the girls will play on the road.


Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers dropped 2 out of 3 games this past weekend at Rapid City Post 22.

On Saturday, they won the first game by a score of 6-5.

Cael Hamrick had 3 RBI’s including the go ahead run in the top of the 7th, when he hit into a fielder’s choice.

In Game 2, the Troopers only managed 3 hits and lost 10-0.

Avon Barney had 2 of those 3 hits.

Yesterday, Sheridan was down 6-1 after 5 innings, then scored 3 in the top of the 6th to close the gap to 6-4, but could not get any closer.

The Troopers will play a 9-inning non-conference game on Thursday at Gillette.

The team is back home this Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, they’ll play the Casper Oilers at 11am, and the Billings Scarlets at 5pm.

On Sunday, the team will take on the Billings Royals at 10am and then Casper again at 4pm.


Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies dropped 2 out of 3 at home vs. Seattle.

Friday’s game was rained out.

On Saturday, the team only managed 3 hits and lost 7-zip.

The Rocks and Mariners played 2 games yesterday.

In the first game, it was scoreless going into the bottom of the 9th inning, and it appeared that Jacob Stallings hit a walk off solo home run, but after checking the replay, he was called out on fan interference.

In the 10th inning, Seattle scored 1, but Colorado scored 2 as Ryan McMahon delivered a walk off single for the win.

In the second game, the Rockies scored 2 in the first, but it was all Seattle after that.

The final score was 10-2.

The Rocks start a 4-game home series today with San Diego.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:40pm.


Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets rallied from 9-down in the second quarter to beat the LA Lakers 114-103 Saturday in game 1 of the first round best of 7 series.

Game 2 is today at Denver beginning at 8pm.


Colorado Avalanche Hockey: Last night was a score-fest between the Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg in Game 1 of their first round best of 7 series.

The Jets would prevail 7-6.

Game 2 is tomorrow at Winnipeg.

The Avs will host Game 3 on Friday.
