Sheridan HS Soccer: The 2nd half of the 4A East Conference schedule starts today for the Sheridan High School soccer teams.
The boys play on the road today at Laramie beginning at 6pm and tomorrow at Cheyenne South beginning at 12-noon.
Historically the 4A East has not been a walk in the park for any team.
The Broncs got through the first run of the conference schedule with 3 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie.
Head Coach Wade Kinsey says under the circumstances, he’s satisfied with how the team performed, and now it’s time to see what they can do in Round 2.
The Sheridan girls will play their home finale today vs. Laramie at 6pm.
Tomorrow’s game vs. Cheyenne South is also a home game, but because of the track meet going on at Sheridan, the game will be played at Big Horn, starting at 12-noon.
Sheridan HS Track and Field: Sheridan will host the Dan Hansen Invitational tomorrow beginning at 10am.
It’s their final home meet of the season and senior introductions will take place beforehand.
Big Horn, Tongue River and Arvada-Clearmont are also scheduled to compete.
Sheridan County HS Spring Golf: Sheridan was supposed to compete at Buffalo today, but that has been canceled due to the cold weather.
The Broncs and Lady Broncs will next compete one week from today at Gillette.
Big Horn was supposed to host a meet today at the Powder Horn, but it has also been called off due to the cold.
BH and Tongue River will next compete, one week from today at Sundance.
Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers are scheduled to start a 3-game series tomorrow at Rapid City Post 22.
The teams will play a double-header tomorrow beginning at 5pm, and then a single game on Sunday starting at 1pm.
The Troopers next home games are one week from tomorrow and Sunday.
Sheridan Mavericks Lacrosse: The Sheridan Maverick boys team will play their only 2 home games of the season this weekend.
Today they play Cody starting at 7pm and play Helena tomorrow at 1pm.
Games will be played at the old Normative Services Field.
That’s not the only lacrosse action going on in Sheridan this weekend.
The club level teams from the University of Wyoming, Montana State and Denver University will be in town to play each other and put on a free youth clinic tomorrow, from noon until 4pm, also at the old Normative Services facility.
The College schedule will have Montana State vs. Denver tomorrow at 10am, MSU vs. UW tomorrow at 7pm, and then UW vs. Denver on Sunday at 10am.
As for the Sheridan Lady Mavericks, they have this weekend off from competition.
Sheridan College Rodeo: The Sheridan College Women’s Rodeo team had arguably their best weekend of the 2023-2024 season so far this season this past weekend at Casper.
Faith Heim (32.09 seconds total on 2) and Maci DeHaan (32.31 seconds total on 2) finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Barrel Racing event.
Heim was only 0.05 seconds behind the winner.
Those finishes catapulted the women’s team to a 3rd place overall finish for the weekend.
On the men’s side, Clancy Glenn finished 2nd in the saddle bronc riding with a score of 149 on 2 rides.
The Central Rocky Mountain season concludes this weekend at the University of Wyoming.
Competitors earn points based on which place they finish in, at each of the 10 rodeos during the fall and spring seasons.
The top 3 in points standings in each event, at the end of the season, qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR), which is held in June at Casper.
With one weekend to go, the only Sheridan College competitor who has a chance of qualifying for the CNFR, would be bull rider Wyatt Phelps, who sits in 2nd place.
His spot is not secured, because there are a number of other bull riders within striking distance of finishing in the top 3.
All other Sheridan College competitors are too far back in the standings, and even if they win their respective events this weekend, the points that they would earn, would not be enough to catch up to the top 3 in the standings.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies were off yesterday, and start a 7-game homestand today, starting with the first of 3 vs. Seattle.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40pm.
On Monday, the Rocks will start a 4-game series at home vs. San Diego.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche concluded the regular season last night, with a 5-1 win at home vs. Edmonton.
The Avs finished 3rd in the Central Division and will open the playoffs on Sunday at Winnipeg, beginning at 5pm.
The Jets will have the home ice advantage in the best of 7 series, because they finished 2nd in the Division.
Game 2 is scheduled for Tuesday, also at Winnipeg.
The Avs will host Game 3 and 4 one week from today and on Sunday, April 28th.
