Sheridan County HS Track and Field: This past weekend was a busy and productive one for Sheridan County High School Track and Field teams.
On Friday, Tongue River hosted a 5-team meet.
Winners of note include Caleb Kilbride of TR who won both boys hurdle races, the long jump and the high jump, Gavin Stafford of Big Horn who won the 100 and 200 meter dash races, and Lady Eagle Jazlyn Ryan who won both girls hurdle races.

On Saturday, the Sheridan boys and girls both finished 1st in the team standings at the Billings Invitational.
The Broncs’ 4 by 100 and 4 by 400 meter relay teams won their events and Lilly Charest won the girls pole vault.
Due to weather concerns, the Gary Benson Invitational at Sheridan which was originally scheduled for tomorrow, has been moved up to today starting at 1pm.
Sheridan HS Soccer: Dane Steel scored twice and Kelten Crow added one, as the Sheridan boys defeated Thunder Basin 3-nil at home back on Saturday.
On top of that, they got the shutout by using their backup goalie.
The Broncs have reached the halfway point of the season and have a record of 5-2-1 to show for it.
Coach Wade Kinsey says now that all players are back from the previous week, the team has a good attitude both in games and in practice.
Meanwhile, the Lady Broncs lost on Saturday at home vs. Thunder Basin 1-0, to fall to 5-3 on the season.
Round 2 of conference play starts this weekend against Laramie and Cheyenne South.
The boys will play on the road and the girls at home.
Because of another track and field meet, Saturday’s home game for the Sheridan girls will be played at Big Horn.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies ended up losing 2 out of 3 games this past weekend at Toronto.
Things got off to a good start on Friday, thanks to a 12-4 win.
Colorado got 20 base hits in that game.
Nolan Jones and Ezequiel Tovar each hit solo home runs.
On Saturday, the Blue Jays scored 5 runs in the first inning, and that was all they needed to beat the Rocks 5-3.
Brenton Doyle had a solo shot in that game.
Yesterday, Colorado’s bats only produced 2 hits as the team got shut out 5-0, to fall to 4-12 on the season.
The Rockies begin a 3-game series today at Philadelphia.
First pitch is scheduled for 4:40pm.
Denver Nuggets Basketball: Going into this past weekend the Denver Nuggets had the inside track to the #1 seed in the west, but a surprise loss on Friday at San Antonio derailed those plans.
The Nuggets lost 121-120, but recovered yesterday to win at Memphis 126-111.
Denver finished tied with Oklahoma City for the west #1 seed, however the Thunder won the head-to-head series during the regular season 3-1, so the Nuggets will be the #2 seed and will play the winner of tomorrow’s game, between the LA Lakers at New Orleans.
Game 1 of the best of 7 series is scheduled for this coming Saturday.
Start time to be determined.
Also on Denver’s side of the bracket will be the best of 7 series winner between Phoenix and Minnesota.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche dropped both weekend games, losing on Saturday at home vs. Winnipeg 7-0, and yesterday at Las Vegas 4-3 in overtime.
It’s their 7th loss in the last 10 games.
The Avs conclude the regular season this Thursday at home vs. Edmonton.
