Abagail Olson Of Sheridan HS Signs NLI to Rodeo At Ft. Hays State Univ.: One Sheridan High School Cowgirl will continue to ride at the collegiate level.

Abagail Olson has signed her National Letter of Intent (NLI) to compete on the rodeo team at Fort Hays State University in Kansas.

Events she plans to compete in include barrel racing, goat tying and breakaway roping.

Last year Olson placed 4th in barrel racing at the High School National Finals Rodeo, and this year she’s currently in 1st place in the Wyoming standings.

She says rodeo has run in her family, and although her interests took a slight detour when she was younger, she eventually got back into the swing of things.

Olson adds she had also considered going to Tarleton State in Texas, and Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne.

She is considering majoring in Radiology.

Sheridan HS Soccer: Sheridan is back on the field tonight against Campbell County.

Start time for the varsity games are at 6pm, with the girls at home and the boys on the road.

For the Lady Broncs, most of the goals that they’ve scored so far this season have come in the second half of their games.

They scored 10 in the second half against Buffalo last month, three times in 94 seconds in the second half last week against Cheyenne Central and twice in 3 minutes in the second half against Cheyenne East.

Senior Emma Prior says being a second half team wasn’t necessarily by design, but players are putting in some first half work as well.

On Saturday, both the girls and boys play a home double-header vs. Thunder Basin.

Sheridan County HS Track and Field: All 4 Sheridan County teams will compete tomorrow.

Sheridan, Big Horn and Tongue River will be at TR for what will be a small 5-team meet.

Arvada-Clearmont will be at Upton.

Sheridan is also scheduled to compete on Saturday at Billings.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost the rubber game yesterday afternoon at home vs. Arizona 5-3.

Michael Toglia hit a 2-run home run in the 4th inning, but the bullpen was unable to hang onto the lead.

The Rocks are now 3-10 on the season and are off today, as they prepare to start a 6-game road trip, starting tomorrow with 3 games at Toronto, followed by 3 at Philadelphia.

Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets got the big win that they needed last night, as they won at home vs. Minnesota 116-107.

With 2 games remaining in the regular season, the Nuggets have a 1-game lead on both the Timberwolves and Oklahoma City, in the race for the west #1 seed.

They can secure that spot by winning their final 2 games which are tomorrow at San Antonio and on Sunday at Memphis.
