Sheridan HS Girls Basketball: The 4A Girls Basketball State Championship Tournament starts tomorrow at Casper College.

The Sheridan Lady Broncs play in the first game of the day at 9am against Rock Springs, which is the only 4A team that they have not yet played this season.

This is the 2nd year in a row that Sheridan plays in the 9am game on Thursday and Coach Ryan Sullivan says that does not bother the team one bit, in fact he thinks losing that regional championship game vs. Campbell County was a blessing in disguise, because the Lady Camels, along with Cheyenne East and Star Valley are all on the other side of the bracket.

As for Rock Springs, it could be hard to get any kind of read on the team, because this past Monday, the Head Coach for the Lady Tigers, was relieved of his duties due to personnel issues.

Caleb Kilbride Of Tongue River HS Signs NLI To Play Football And Basketball At Dakota Wesleyan Univ.: A multi-sport athlete from Tongue River, will get to play both of the sports that he enjoys at the collegiate level.

Caleb Kilbride has signed his National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play football and basketball at Dakota Wesleyan University, located in Mitchell, South Dakota.

This past football season as a wide receiver, he caught 29 passes for 496 yards and scored 5 touchdowns.

In the recent basketball season that just ended, Kilbride averaged 17 points per game, while shooting 45% from the field.

He says the only other school he had been considering was Chadron State, which was only interested in him for football only.

When Dakota Wesleyan expressed interest in both football and basketball, that school jumped to the front of the line.

Kilbride adds that both the football and basketball coaches at Dakota Wesleyan are aware that one sport will overlap the other one for about 1 month.

As for a major, he says he is considering wildlife management.

University Of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys shot nearly 54% from the field in the second half, made 18-of 19 free throws during the course of the game, and outscored Air Force 30-12 in the paint, to get the win at home on Senior night 74-63.

Brendan Wenzel led the way with 20 points, while Akuel Kot and Sam Griffin each contributed with 19.

The Pokes are now 14-16 on the season and have a 7-10 record in the Mountain West Conference.

The team concludes the regular season this Saturday at Fresno State.

That game is worthless to both teams, because regardless of outcome, UW is already locked into the #8 seed for the Mountain West Conference Tournament, and the Bulldogs are locked into the #9 seed.

In other words, the 2 teams will play each other at Fresno State this coming Saturday, and then play each other again, in the first round of the Mountain West Conference Tournament which starts one week from today at Las Vegas.

Last night, the Wyoming Cowgirls had an 11 point lead at San Diego State with 7 minutes to go, then went scoreless for the next 6 minutes, ended up on the wrong end of a 19-5 run and lost 58-55.

Allyson Fertig had a double-double for the brown and gold…19 points and 10 rebounds.

Melene Pedersen contributed with 12 of her own.

The Cowgirls finish the regular season with a record of 16-13 overall and an 11-7 record in the Mountain West Conference, which gives them sole possession of 3rd place.

The Mountain West Conference Tournament is scheduled to begin at Las Vegas this Sunday, but UW will have a first round bye and will play the last game of the day on Monday, against the winner of Sunday’s game between Boise State and Utah State.

Monday’s tip off time is scheduled for 8:30pm Mountain Time.
