Sheridan HS Boys Swimming: Today is the finals of the Wyoming High School 4A State Swimming and Diving Meet, and one Sheridan Bronc just put himself into the school record books again.

At yesterday’s preliminary round in Laramie, sophomore Ben Forsythe broke the school record in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 59.37 seconds.

The old record of 1 minute 0.68 seconds was set back in 1989.

Forsythe is the #1 seed in today’s finals in both the 100 yard breaststroke and the 50 yard freestyle races.

Sheridan also has representation in the finals of the 200 yard medley relay, the 200 yard freestyle, the 200 yard IM, 100 yard butterfly, 200 yard freestyle relay and the 400 yard freestyle relay.

The Broncs are in the finals of 8 of 12 events, which start at 10am.

Sheridan HS Basketball: Sheridan is starting their second run through the 4A Northeast Quadrant.

Friday’s and Saturday’s games start with the girls at 3pm.

This weekend marks the end of the regular season for 2A and 1A teams.

Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche lost last night at Tampa Bay 6-3, to conclude their 6-game East Conference road trip with a record of 1-5.

The Avs return home on Sunday to play Arizona.

Sheridan Hawks Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks play at Gillette both today and tomorrow.

Last weekend, Sheridan showed some consistency and although they lost both games at Helena, they lost them both by the same 5-3 score.

The Hawks were missing a few players last week who had been called up to the Tier 2 level, but now they’re back.

Coach J.J. Santagata says now the team just has to figure out how to carry over that consistency and do better.

Including this weekend, Sheridan has 6 games remaining in the regular season.

The Hawks will be back at home on March 1st and 2nd.
