A Sheridan High School Football lineman is heading to western Colorado to play at the collegiate level.
DJ Elchlinger has signed his National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play football at Colorado Mesa University located in Grand Junction.
This past season for the Broncs, he had 34 tackles, including 6 1/2 tackles for a loss and 1 sack.
He explains what the Mavericks football team saw in him and what he liked about that program.
“My head work, dedication. I’m always going to be the silent leader, takes charge, stuff like that. I got to go with the coaches and the college itself. It’s pretty huge and very clean and nice there. Grand Junction is a really nice town. The football program, they have a great culture there. It’s about hard work mostly, which I really like.”
Elchlinger says he is considering a degree in kinesiology which is the study of human body movement.
He adds the only other school he had been considering was Black Hills State.
