Indoor Track and Field Rescheduled To Today: The bitter cold temperatures resulted in some of this past weekend’s high school sporting events to be canceled or postponed, but not all of them.

Gillette was supposed to host one of the first indoor track and field meets of the season on Saturday.

That has been rescheduled to today and Sheridan is scheduled to participate.

Wrestling: The Sheridan and Tongue River wrestlers had to cancel competition plans for the weekend.

Both teams will compete at Moorcroft this coming Friday and Saturday, but before that, Sheridan will compete in their first conference dual of the season on Thursday at Thunder Basin, while TR will host Buffalo in a dual meet.

Boys Swimming: Sheridan did not travel to their scheduled boys swim meet this past weekend, because of the cold.

The Broncs will host Kelly Walsh in a dual this Friday.

Sheridan HS Basketball: The Sheridan boys and girls basketball teams won both of their games on Thursday at Kelly Walsh, and had the weekend off from competition.

This weekend is the start of 4A Northeast Quadrant Play as the Broncs and Lady Broncs travel to Campbell County on Friday and then are at home on Saturday against Thunder Basin.

For the boys, it will be their home opener of the season.

Tongue River at Big Horn Basketball: Back on Saturday, it was the first of 2 meetings between Tongue River and Big Horn.

The boys game was an ugly one as both teams shot poorly, but the Rams got the ugly win 52-46.

Caleb Gibson scored 21 points for his team.

BH Coach Cody Ball says the plan was more focused on defense.

In the girls game, it was close after one quarter, and then TR took control from there to win 68-42, for their 10th straight win this season.

Freshmen Afton Cummins led all scorers with 18.

She says the team has good chemistry both in practice and at the game.

Both TR and BH are scheduled to play their next games on Saturday.

The Eagles and Lady Eagles will play at Wright, while the Rams and Lady Rams are at home vs. Sundance.

Arvada-Clearmont HS Basketball: Arvada-Clearmont made it to the Little 6 Invitational at Dubois.

The Lady Panthers went 3-0 on the weekend, as they defeated Ten Sleep, Dubois and Ft. Washakie, while the Panthers dropped all 3 games.

A-C starts 1A Northeast Quadrant play on Friday at Upton and return home on Saturday to play Hulett.

University Of Wyoming Basketball: Once again the Wyoming Cowboys would win it at the buzzer at home, and it was Akuel Kot providing the winning heroics for the 2nd time this season, as the Brown and Gold would beat Fresno State 68-67 back on Saturday.

The Pokes were down by 12 with a little less than 10 minutes to go in the game, came back and grabbed a 4 point lead with 2:14 to go.

The Bulldogs would go up by 1 with 7 seconds remaining, and Kot made the most of those 7 seconds.

Brendan Wenzel led all scorers with 18 points.

Sam Griffin contributed with 16 and Kot had a dozen, including the winner.

UW is now 9-8 on the season and have a 2-2 record in the Mountain West Conference.

The team has the midweek off from competition and next play on Saturday at home vs. Nevada.

The Wyoming Cowgirls had this past weekend off on the schedule.

They next play Wednesday at New Mexico.

Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won a pair of home games this past weekend.

On Friday they defeated New Orleans 125-113, and yesterday they beat Indiana 117-109.

The Nuggets now start a 5-game East Conference road trip, and their next game is tomorrow at Philadelphia.

Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche started their 5-game Eastern Conference road trip on a good note on Saturday as they won at Toronto 5-3.

The Avs are back in action tonight at Montreal.

Sheridan Hawks Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks stumbled as they lost both home games vs. Rapid City.

Friday’s score was 4-1 and Saturday’s score was 6-4.

The Hawks fall to 6th place in their division and are 5 points behind in the playoff chase.

Sheridan is back at home this weekend vs. Butte who is only 2 points behind them.

The puck drops both nights at 7:30pm.
