Sheridan High School Basketball: The Sheridan High School boys basketball team split the 4-games they played this past weekend to open the season at Riverton.
The Broncs started out with a back-and-forth game with the host team and came up 2 points short in the end.
They then won the next 2 games vs. Jackson and Rawlins, and dropped the weekend finale against Star Valley.
Coach Jeff Martini says it was one of those weekends to feel things out and try to get some sort of gauge of where the team stands.
Sheridan is back on the road again this weekend.
On Friday they play at Buffalo, beginning at 7pm, and then Saturday at Cody starting at 2pm.
The Sheridan Lady Broncs play at home vs. Buffalo this Friday at 7pm.
We will have that game LIVE on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM and we will also Live video stream the game.
On Saturday, the girls will join the boys at Cody.
Big Horn, Tongue River, Arvada-Clearmont HS Basketball: Big Horn and Tongue River will host the Foothills Classic this weekend against Wyoming Indian, Wind River, and Big Piney.
TR will also play Greybull, while BH will host the Sheridan JV team.
Games are scheduled to start this Thursday at 6pm.
Meanwhile, Arvada-Clearmont will hit the road to play Ten Sleep on Friday.
Sheridan, Tongue River Wrestling: Sheridan will compete Friday and Saturday at the Pat Weede Invitational in Gillette, which is usually a series of dual meets.
The Tongue River wrestlers will compete on Saturday in a dual tournament at Wright.
Sheridan Boys Swimming: Sheridan will swim on Friday and Saturday at Kelly Walsh, in what is their last big meet before the Holiday Break.
Sheridan’s Aiden O’Leary Signs NLI For Black Hills State Track and Field: One Sheridan High School Track and Field Athlete has cleared a major “hurdle” it terms of his college future.
Aiden O’Leary has signed his National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the track and field team at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota.
At the 2023 Wyoming High School Outdoor Track and Field State Meet this past May, he was the 4A State Runner-Up in the 300 meter hurdles race and was 5th in the 110 meter hurdles.
In the 2023 Wyoming High School Indoor Track and Field State Meet this past March, O’Leary was a part of the 4 by 400 meter relay team that finished 2nd.
He says he never considered hurdles races when he first started track and field, but he’s glad he was introduced to a new type of competition.
O’Leary says he’s considering majoring in sports medicine or business.
University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys are back on the court this coming Saturday at home vs. Weber State beginning at 7pm.
The Wyoming Cowgirls play Sunday at Montana State, starting at 12-noon.
Mountain West Conference Bowl Games: The bowl season starts this Saturday and 2 mountain west conference teams will be in action.
Fresno State and New Mexico State meet in the New Mexico Bowl starting at 3:45pm.
Overlapping that game will be Boise State against UCLA in the LA Bowl starting at 5:30pm.
The Wyoming Cowboys get to wait 2 more weeks before playing in the Arizona Bowl against Toledo.
Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos play a Saturday night game this week instead of Sunday.
The team plays at Detroit beginning at 6:15pm.
Denver is 7-6 on the season with 4 games to go and sit in a 6-way tie for one of the final 2 wild card spots in the AFC.
The Broncos are also 1 game behind Kansas City for 1st place in the AFC West, however the Chiefs control the tie-breakers in terms of better record within the division and within the AFC.
Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets made it 2-for-2 on their road trip as they beat the Chicago Bulls yesterday 114-106.
The team is back at home Thursday vs. Brooklyn.
