High School Sports: Basketball and Wrestling start their second week of practice this week, and Boys Swimming starts practice today.

All 3 can start competition as early as next week Thursday.

In Basketball, Sheridan will start the season playing various opponents at Riverton, Big Horn and Tongue River will travel to Burns, while Arvada-Clearmont will play at Upton.

In Wrestling, Sheridan will host Worland next week Thursday, while the JV team will host the Tongue River varsity afterwards.

Boys Swimming will start the season next week Friday at Gillette.

College Football: The Wyoming Cowboys concluded the 2023 regular season by finally winning a road game, as they would throttle Nevada 42-6.

Quarterback Andrew Peasley had himself a game as he threw for 2 touchdowns and ran in 2 of his own.

He was 12 of 18 passing for 165 yards.

The defense showed up as well, with 6 sacks total and a pick 6 courtesy of Wyatt Ekeler.

The Pokes finish the regular season 8-and-4 overall with a 5-3 record in the Mountain West Conference, which put them in a tie for 4th with Air Force.

In all likely-hood a bowl game announcement should happen this coming Sunday.

The Mountain West Conference has affiliations with 5 bowl games, and a possible 6th depending on if a conference can’t fulfill its obligations.

UW could end up in either the Potato Bowl in Boise, the LA Bowl, the New Mexico Bowl, the Arizona Bowl or the Hawaii Bowl.

There’s also a possibility for the Guaranteed Rate Bowl played in Phoenix, but that would only be if the Big 10 or Big 12 Conferences can not fulfill the contract obligations.

Meanwhile, the conference had to go deep into its tie-breaking criteria to figure out which 2 teams were going to play each other in the Mountain West Conference championship game.

UNLV, Boise State and San Jose State all had 6-2 conference record, but the problem was, UNLV and Boise State did not play each other.

When it was all said and done, the computer rankings said they will play each other this weekend in Las Vegas.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1pm Mountain Time.

College Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys lost yesterday at Texas by a score of 86-63.

Four players for UW scored in double digits including Cam Manyawu who had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The 2 problems in the game was that Texas had 5 players score in double figures, and the Pokes only got a total of 9 points from the bench.

The Cowboys are now 4-2 on the season.

Their next scheduled game is this Friday at the University of Portland.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.

Meanwhile, the Wyoming Cowgirls are back in action tomorrow at home vs. BYU.

Tip-off in the arena auditorium is scheduled for 6:30pm.

Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos are arguably one of the hottest teams in the league.

Yesterday, they defeated the Cleveland Browns 29-12, which is a scoregami for the league…and have now won 5 in a row, which is their longest winning streak since they won 9 straight from late 2015 into the early portions of the 2016 season.

Russell Wilson was 13 of 22 passing for 134 yards.

He threw for 1 touchdown and ran in another himself.

Will Lutz kicked 2 field goals and the defense got a safety late in the game.

The Broncos are now 6-5 on the season and are in second place in the AFC west.

They trail Kansas City by 2 games with 6 to go.

As it stands now, they are tied with Indianapolis and Houston for the final wild card spot, and it just so happens, the next game is this Sunday at Houston.

It’s the start of a 3-game road trip that will be followed by games at the LA Chargers and at Detroit.

Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won on Friday at Minnesota 3-2, and also won on Saturday at home vs. Calgary 3-1.

They are back on the ice tonight at home vs. Tampa Bay.

Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks swept a 2-game series at home vs. Cody, winning on Friday 5-2 and on Saturday 6-2.

In Saturday’s game, the Hawks would score 3 times in 44 seconds early in the 3rd period.

Sheridan is back at home this weekend against vs. Rapid City.

The puck drops at 7:30pm this Friday and Saturday.
