A recent Sheridan High School grad will take his soccer skills into rival territory.

Danny Magera has signed his National Letter of Intent to play soccer at Gillette College.

The Pronghorns last played in fall in 2019 and then the athletics department at both Gillette and Sheridan Colleges were eliminated, as a result of budget cuts from the COVID pandemic.

Gillette has since formed it’s own community college district and restarted its athletic program.

Magera says he was also considering playing for Casper College, and Laramie County Community College, but he is already familiar with a number of his new teammates and the Gillette area.

“I played fall soccer for the Gillette club teams pretty much my entire high school career and my middle school career. It’s fun because I know a lot of the guys. Every time I’m on the field it feels like everything else kind of shuts out and it’s just me and the ball so it’s the only time that I’m really by myself.”

Magera adds he is considering majoring in exercise science.
