While Wyoming will be hosting the track and field, soccer and softball state championships this weekend, the Sheridan Mavericks boys and girls lacrosse teams will head north of the border to participate in their state culminating event.
The past weekend was the end of the regular season.
The boys went 1-2 on the weekend, which stated with a 10-8 loss at Cody.
Then on Saturday they played in Billings, Montana and defeated Butte, 12-5, then lost against Bozeman, 9-5.
The Mavericks are 5-6 on the season and earned the #5 seed for the Montana High School Lacrosse Association (MHSLA) State Tournament which starts on Saturday in Bozeman.
Sheridan will play Cody in the first round at 11am.
Meanwhile, the girls played their only home games of the season this past weekend, and they picked up their first win, by beating the Rimrock team out of Billings, 13-6.
They then lost the second game of the day vs. Rapid City, SD 5-4.
The girls state tournament is also this weekend in Bozeman.
Sheridan will be in pool play on Saturday vs. Helena at 12:30pm and then play Bozeman at 4pm.
