Peter Harry Marros passed away holding his wife’s hand in the early morning hours of March 23, 2025, in Yuba City, California. A graveside service will be held in Buffalo on June 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Willow Grove Cemetery.
Peter was born on March 14, 1933, in Rapid City, South Dakota, the middle child of Harry and Maria Marros, Greek immigrants.
Peter graduated from Central High School in Rapid City and attended one year at Black Hills State before enlisting in the United States Air Force. After completing his enlistment, he graduated from Black Hills State Teachers College with a B.A. in Physical Education. He later earned a master’s degree from Chico State College in California.
Peter taught P.E. in the Rapid City School District before moving to Yuba City, California in 1965 where he taught in several schools before retiring in 1999. After retiring at the age of 66, Pete spent 20 years working as a substitute teacher because of his affection for children. Many of the children dubbed him “Grandpa.”
Pete’s mother and father moved to Buffalo in 1968 and after that, during summer breaks from teaching school, Pete became a fixture at the Table Supply, IGA, where he worked alongside his brother-in-law, Bob Perry. He was known for his infectious sense of humor, his innate ability to bring smiles to those around him, and for his tremendous work ethic.
