For the second year in a row a Sheridan County High School Football Coach, will work with some of the best high school football seniors.
Kirk McLaughlin, who is the coach of the 2A State Champion Big Horn Rams, has been named the Head Coach for the North team in 2023 Wyoming Shrine Bowl Football Game.
The game is not only an all-star game between the North and the South, it also serves as a fundraiser for the Shriner’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Coach McLaughlin, who also coached BH to state championships in 2018 and 2019, will soon select his coaching staff which must have a coach from all classes of football, including 9-man and 6-man.
Once that’s done, the coaches will select the players for this year’s North team, and only those who are seniors this school year are eligible to be selected.
Coach McLaughlin was an Assistant Coach for the North team last year and the North won that game 37-3.
Of the last 14 Shrine Bowls, the North has won 12 of them with 1 tie in that stretch.
There was no game in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic.
McKay Young of Star Valley will coach the South team.
This year’s Wyoming Shrine Bowl Football game is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 10th at Kelly Walsh High School in Casper.
