cvannoyThe second annual Rotary Ice Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, February 26 at Lake DeSmet, beginning at sunrise.
Hosted by the Sheridan Rotary Club, the one day tournament features cash prizes for the 3 largest fish in 4 categories. Fish will be measured for length and awarded the following prizes $1000 for longest, $500 for 2nd, and $200 for the 3rd longest fish. The 4 species that will be judged are Trout, Kokanee, Walleye and Perch.
In addition, the longest fish will have a chance to win $50,000. There will be 200 trophy sized tagged trout planted before the derby. Each fish tag can be turned in for $50 cash prize.
Tickets can be purchased online or in person at Rocky Mountain Discount Sports in Sheridan or at the event. Tickets are $50 or $45 for an on-line purchase. The event headquarters will be at the Lion’s Club building.
The Derby proceeds will be used by the Sheridan Rotary Foundation to support its charities, including youth leadership, clean water, and community improvements. The event is sponsored by Tegeler and Associates and Sheridan Media.
