Yellowstone’s Winter Season Starts Sunday

On Sunday morning, roads in Yellowstone National Park will open to snowcoaches and snowmobiles. The public will be able to travel the park’s interior roads on commercially guided snowmobiles and snowcoaches from the North, West, and South entrances and those with proper permits can also take non commercially guided trips according to a news release from the National Park Service. The East entrance will remain closed until December 22.
Lodging and services are limited during the winter with some open at Old Faithful, Mammoth Hot Springs, and service stations. In addition, warming huts provide shelter at Canyon, Fishing Bridge, Indian Creek, Madison, and West Thumb. Some of those huts are staffed and provide food, restrooms, and water. Planning ahead for winter adventures is recommended. You can find resources on how to do so by following this link https://www.nps.gov/yell/index.htm.
