Aaron PalmerThe Johnson County Commission, at theire Tuesday meeting, voted to approve a fee schedule for the county-owned Mikesell-Potts Recreation Area at Lake Desmet.
The rate changes were a necessity due to the need for the county to begin collecting sales and lodging taxes at the campground beginning this year, according to County Road & Bridge Supervisor Scott Pehringer.
Also proposed was a fee schedule where county residents could prove residency and buy a seven or 14-day pass where the cost would be $10 and $15 per night, as it has been.
The commission voted to adopt the new fee schedule for the recreation area.
