Pat BlairThe Sheridan Rotary Club’s first-ever Ice-Fishing Fishing Derby is planned for Feb. 27 at Lake DeSmet. Megan Powers, who’s Rotary Club president, elaborated.
Powers said the event besides providing a fun activity is also a fundraiser, and the Rotary Club has three beneficiaries lined up.
Powers said there are no age restrictions, but all participants in the Derby would have to be compliant with Wyoming Game and Fish regulations.
She said there will be four $1,000 winners for the largest fish in four specific species, as well as four second-place and four third-place winners. She said there also will be a chance for someone to catch a fish worth a $25,000 cash prize, and more information on that will come later.
Powers said there will be 200 tagged fish, and each of those will be worth $50, as well as door prizes.
