In observance of American Heart Month in February, Sheridan Memorial Hospital will offer free blood pressure checks on Feb. 9.

From 9 to 11 a.m., people are invited to come to the employee parking lot on the north side of the hospital near the cafeteria doors. People are advised to watch for signs and a tent – and to wear a facing covering.

Health care professionals will conduct the blood pressure checks and also provide information on how to keep their hearts healthy, including what they can do to modify their lifestyles and lower stress.

Hospital personnel remind people that controlling high blood pressure through early diagnosis and intervention is an important step in substantially lowering the risk for heart attack, stroke and death.

The best way to know if you have high blood pressure is to have it checked routinely.
