Employee Pay Increases on Council’s Radar

Officials with the City of Sheridan are contemplating the implementation of pay increases for City employees. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
When the City Council adopted the budget for the current fiscal in June, it included funds for compensation increases for City employees. Due to the economic uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Council voted to not implement the funds at that time and to revisit the issue in the fall. City Human Resources Director Heather Doke said that as of July 1, health insurance premiums did increase by 13 percent, which has resulted in the reduction in take home pay for all City employees with health insurance.
Doke, at a recent City Council study session, explained what staff is recommending for employee compensation increases.
Doke said that the Council will be considering a resolution next Monday night to approve the employee increases. If the resolution is approved by the Council, the pay increases would go into effect November 1.
