Events Planned in Buffalo for Suicide Prevention Week

Mayor Shane Schrader has proclaimed September 6th through the 11th as “Suicide Prevention Week” in Buffalo, and events throughout the week will hopefully bring attention to the problem and what people can do to help curb the health crisis.
The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Johnson County will offer events, with the main happening, the 132 Event, next Thursday in Crazy Woman Square, to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day.
Arianna Prescher, organizer of the event, spoke to the Buffalo City Council after the proclamation this week, explaining Thursday’s event.
Other planned events include a noon hour resource and sharing table with volunteers and coalition members on September 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th; a “Talk Saves Lives” virtual presentation by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention; and an Alliance For Hope family wellness event in Kaycee on September 13th; and a prayer service led by Fr. Doug Wasinger at 12:15 on Friday, September 11th.
