The Sheridan Football Officials Association is looking for committed residents to join their ranks.
The Sheridan Football Officials Association is a group of approximately 12 local residents that are responsible for providing registered officials to all local football games within Sheridan County.
The group officiates all levels of the game, officiating middle school through Friday night varsity high school games throughout the state.
But the Sheridan Football Officials Association has begun to lose officials due to retirement among other reasons. Lack of officials has led to games being rescheduled or even cancelled according to Owen Mullinax, an official with the SFOA.
During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Mullinax asked listeners to consider becoming an official for football games and said the team he has now has been working overtime in an attempt to keep games from being cancelled.
Mullinax said the Sheridan Football Officials Association will provide both training and equipment to anyone interested in becoming an official.
To find out more call Owen Mullinax at (307) 763-8856 or email sheridanfootballofficials@gmail.com or attend the SFOA meeting at 5:30 p.m., Aug. 17, at the Sheridan High School athletic wing.
