SCLT Explore History to Feature True Crime Stories

Published

on

The Sheridan Community Land Trust’s SCLT Explore History program will host local historian Cynde Georgen for a pair of presentations exploring the darker side of early Sheridan County history.

Titled “From Madness to Mayhem to Murders: Stories of Violent Death in Early Sheridan County,” the programs will feature stories drawn from Georgen’s ongoing research into violent deaths in north-central Wyoming.

In podcasts, television programs, and best-selling books, true crime seems to be all the rage. For her part, Georgen, author of In the Shadow of the Bighorns: A History of Early Sheridan and the Goose Creek Valley of Northern Wyoming, has been researching true crime stories from north-central Wyoming for more than thirty years.

During the presentations, she will share stories excerpted from her hopefully forthcoming book, Murder Ends It All: Violent Death in North-Central Wyoming, 1877–1941.

There will be two opportunities to attend this program. The first will be held on Wednesday, April 8 from 10:00–11:30 a.m. at The Hub on Smith in Sheridan.

The second one will be on Tuesday, April 21 from 10:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. at the Tongue River Valley Community Center (TRVCC), Dayton

Both programs are free and open to all.
