Aaron PalmerThe Buffalo Senior Center is seeking the establishment of a senior citizens special district, and will be asking for support from voters during the August primary election to create it.
The special district, if approved by voters, would provide one mill to fund the senior center and senior programs in the county.
The senior center has sent out mailers to southern Johnson County including Kaycee, explaining the need for the special district, and will be sending mailers to voters in northern Johnson County and Buffalo this week as well, explaining what they are seeking and asking for voter support.
Senior Center Executive Director AJ Mock explains why they feel the need to create a special district.
Mock said there currently is a need for funding, but that it will be even more needed as Johnson County’s population ages in the coming years.
We will have more from Senior Center Executive Director AJ Mock on the services the center provides to seniors in the county tomorrow.
