Operations Discusses Coming Months at Lake DeSmet

Lake DeSmet Operations Manager Paul Mavrakis recently gave a year-end report on the lake to the Johnson County Commission, and he covered what he expects will be happening in the nearfuture.

He talked about the new North End Access.

Mavrakis said they are working on an agreement to give Game & Fish authority to manage below the 4,620 elevation line at the Monument access that is owned by the county.

He said he will be working over the winter on an operations manual to be available to anyone that has the job after him.

He also wants to have better signage at the lake to let boaters know about Aquatic Invasive Species inspections to better protect the lake.
