Amie Holt Care Center Resident Numbers Increase
Numbers of Residents have increased recently in the Amie Holt Care Center at the Johnson County Healthcare Center, according to Director Carrie Boller, who gave an update to the Hospital Board at a recent meeting.
Boller said they had 39 residents, with four new residents in the works, according to the admissions director.
She said that is a huge jump in numbers from July when the census was in the mid-30’s.
Board President Mark Schueler asked if there were any issues with running four wings in the care center as opposed to three, which had been the case for quite a while.
Boller was asked if the cost of travel nurses was still horribly expensive, as it was during and just after COVID, or if it had become more moderately expensive.
She said she thought they are pretty expensive still, but not quite as bad as a few years ago.
According to cort.com, travel nurses take on short-term assignments at hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities in different locations. These assignments can last anywhere from a few weeks to several months. Travel nurses help fill gaps due to nursing shortages, seasonal demands, or other temporary staffing needs.
