New Forge the Future Gate Unveiled at Fairgrounds

On Wednesday, June 4, The AXE Build – Forge the Future gate was unveiled at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds. The winning design was presented by John Kendrick High School FFA members Sophomore Bryce Ludikhuize and Senior Kindell Baker. Baker could not attend the event, but Ludikhuize was there and explained everything that went into making the gate.
The duo shared the prize package that included a $2,650 educational scholarship, $500 gift certificate and a paid summer internship with AXE Build.

Ludikhuize talked about the design on the gate.
The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce was on hand with the red ribbon for Bryce to cut to signify the unveiling of the new gate.
Russel Kessel works at the fairgrounds, and he helped the students welding the gate. He said it was a fun job, and it was good to work with the kids.

Tabitha Sandberg, Administrative Assistant at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds was impressed with how the youngsters did the design and talked about the contest.
Clay Christensen, John B. Kendrick FFA Advisor added,

Ludikhuize has been a member of the John B. Kendrick FFA for almost three years. He said he planned to make welding his profession. While he’s not sure exactly what he wants to do with welding, he wanted to work with metal fabrication of some kind.
