Some Sheridan County residents braved the cold temperatures and cold water in their efforts to raise money for some special athletes.

On Saturday (March 22nd), 9 people took part in the annual Jackalope Jump outside of the M&M Center.

The event is a fundraiser for Special Olympics Wyoming, which will be holding its state summer games in Gillette, May 1st through the 3rd.

About $3,500 was raised in the Sheridan County area for the Jackalope Jump, and Special Olympians in the Sheridan area will have state qualifying competitions sometime in April.

There have been 11 Jackalope Jumps throughout Wyoming so far this year, including the ones in Sheridan and one in Buffalo that took place last month.

One more jump is scheduled for this coming Friday in Thermopolis.
