Trailblazing Women of Country to honor greats

The WYO Performing Arts and Education Center is inviting the public to honor Trailblazing Women of Country – Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton – beginning at 7 p.m. March 1, with an event that will entertain and inspire featuring Rissi Palmer and Kristina Train, supported by a five-member all-female band.
The WYO Theater reports Cline, Lynn and Parton harnessed country music’s rich storytelling tradition to offer their uniquely empowered — and unmistakably female — perspective on issues faced by women of their day. Their shared legacy of musical excellence, earthy glamour and unapologetic authenticity continues to resonate with listeners of all ages and backgrounds.
Palmer stands as a prominent figure in both country and Americana music. Her performances have graced venues such as The White House, The Grand Ole Opry, Lincoln Center and the Apollo Theater. Notably, Palmer holds the distinction of being one of only eight Black artists to have singles charted in any genre, highlighting her enduring impact on the music industry.
Train’s music blends influences from country, soul, gospel, blues, folk and jazz. She has two self-released albums and two studio albums. She has performed with Herbie Hancock, India.Arie and Greg Phillinganes at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway.
Palmer and Train now join together, bringing their own powerful voices to the stage to honor the trailblazing women of country who came before them.
