Fuhrman said the first time he went to the Slack School, after he started as principal of TRES,
He also said they had a mascot, a porcupine named, appropriately, ‘Porky’. He talked about some of the history of Slack, saying it was established at the current location in the 1900s, and the first teacher was W.F. Brittian. In 1944 it was electrified, and in 1955 in-house water, instead of having to go outside to the pump was added, as well as flush toilets. He continued,
He then turned the program over to Ashlee Gorham, teacher at Slack.
She talked about her teaching schedule, some of the student activities, and thanked everyone else who helps her at the Slack school
There was one visitor, John Bridges, who talked to the board about transparency between the school and the parents.
Caleb Kilbride, TRHS student representative, reported on what the students are doing at TRHS, including raising money for Make-a-Wish in Sheridan. In Big Horn Student Representative Isaac Adsit reported that the high school students helped the elementary students decorate Christmas cookies, and they have a Giving Tree to help the less fortunate in the community.
In December the board reorganizes, and Clint Krumm, Chairman; Mercedes Biteman, Vice Chair; Eric Lofgren, Clerk, and Chad Baker Treasurer, were re-elected to their current positions. However, Baker will be moving to Montana, but the treasurer position will be transferred to whoever is appointed to replace him.
The next meeting will be Jan. 16 in Room 211 in Big Horn High School.
