Rooted in Wyoming (RiW) has announced their seventh annual Farm to Table Auction and Dance Fundraiser beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Born in a Barn. This annual event includes a farm-to-table style meal prepared with seasonal locally sourced ingredients. This year’s event will include a more refined meal, including various courses and requiring more time to prepare, limiting the tickets to only 150.

Founded by Bonnie Gregory, RiW, partners with 17 school and other community organizations within Sheridan and Johnson County through gardens, greenhouses, farm walls, grow towers, classes, and outreach to expand access to locally grown food for Wyoming families. One such organization is the Hub on Smith in Sheridan. Gregory talked about one of the major goals of RiW, to teach and reteach the Wyoming community as a whole, where our food comes from.

RiW has purchased animals from the 4-H Livestock sale to use in the meal preparations for the Farm to Table dinner. Joe Surwald, founder of Nubs BBQ, said Gregory likes to challenge the chefs who take part in the meal preparation.

A total of nine chefs are collaborating with numerous local producers to create a seated, plated, and paired multi-course experience for this year’s meal, along with multiple bread and dessert bakers from the area. Music will include local Wyoming bands Shot in the Foot and 10 Cent Stranger.

The Farm to Table Auction and Dance Fundraiser will also feature a live and online silent auction, live music, and a dance.
