Property Tax Town Hall Scheduled for Tuesday in Buffalo

Skyrocketing property taxes were a top discussion point during this year’s legislative session, and the concern from Wyoming taxpayers has not subsided.
In response to their concerns, a Town Hall meeting has been organized and will be presented in Buffalo at the high school auditorium on Tuesday, June 27 to discuss the issue and give an opportunity for the public to participate in a question and answer period after.
State Representative Barry Crago and Johnson County Commissioner Bill Novotny have organized the event and have invited Ashley Harpstreith, Executive Director of the Wyoming Taxpayers Association to be the featured speaker at the event.
Harpstreith will talk about Wyoming’s tax structure and the challenges facing the state and current legislative activities in response to increasing property taxes.
Crago talks about how and why the Town Hall meeting came about and what organizers expect to accomplish.
Crago said the discussion will include what options the county has on property taxes and the special districts.
He said the hope is that the Town Hall meeting will educate those attending, give them a chance to hear Harpstreith’s presentation and to ask questions of her, himself, and Novotny.
The Town Hall will be Tuesday evening, June 27 at the Buffalo High School Auditorium beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The public is welcome and invited to attend.
