Sudden flooding is possible depending on how much rain that an approaching weather system produces and where it hits.

The National Weather Service Office in Billings, Montana has issued a flood watch for Sheridan County in Wyoming, as well as a number of counties in southern Montana.

Counties include Big Horn, Carbon, Yellowstone, Treasure and Rosebud.

The watch is in effect from noon Thursday (June 8th) until 3am Friday.

Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

Scattered storms associated with this system are slow moving and excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas, and low-water crossings may be flooded.

Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris from flooding and some roads may be damaged, especially unpaved rural roads.

Residents are advised to monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
