In a collaboration with the Hub on Smith, WYO PLAY offers skills-based arts instruction in performing arts disciplines for people aged 55 years and up. The program is well known as the Creative Aging series.

As part of that series, Poetry Class, a course led by Sheridan College faculty member and published author Tyler Truman Julian, has proven to be popular among attendees.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, WYO Play lead teacher and founder, Grace Cannon-Wallace, said the mood in the room during the course is positive and WYO PLAY is always open to new ideas for future classes.

Using the Lifetime Arts Model, the goal is to help participants expand their skills and build relationships in the process. Participants meet once per week for eight weeks. At the end of each 8-week course, there is a culminating performance.

The Creative Aging classes that have been offered in the past have focused on storytelling, dance, and voice taught by Cannon-Wallace, Stephanie Koltiska, and Amanda Patterson respectively.
