State Senator Dave Kinskey (R-Sheridan, Johnson Counties), in his weekly talk from the legislative session, discussed House Bill 65, the bill establishing funding for the 988 call system for suicide prevention and mental health issues.

Kinskey explained why he felt the bill came out of the House without a trust to fund the project in the future.

Kinskey said there is a bit of “sticker shock” associated with the funding for the 988 call system.

There will be funding for the suicide prevention system, according to Kinskey.

Kinskey wrapped up by saying, “It’s the latter approach that I favor.”
