Aaron PalmerBuffalo Police Chief Sean Bissett spoke to the city council about the beginning of the schoolyear, which starts this week, saying the department and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office will have a presence near the schools.
He said they want to have high visibility at the schools, so if the public sees them, there isn’t a problem, they are just continuing the initiative he started in January where law enforcement would be making daily routine checks at all the schools during the day.
He discussed a school safety program he and many others are a part of.
Bissett said the notification could come through a “parent liaison” from the schools to parents or something similar, which is one good idea that has come out of the school safety committee meetings so far.
