A film entitled “Reuniting America” will be shown in honor of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday in February.

According to a release from Better Angels, the documentary film shows how the growing bi-partisan movement dedicated to helping Americans heal the political divide through constructive conversations began after the 2016 election.

The focus of the hour-long film is how Democrat-leaning voters and Republican-leaning voters start with skepticism toward each other and then grow to understand and have empathy for each other.

The organization’s name was inspired by the quote from Lincoln, “We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.”

The screening will be at the Johnson County Library in Buffalo on Wednesday, February 12th beginning at 7pm.

There will be light snacks and a question and answer session with Better Angels volunteers after the show.
