Jerry deMontigny

Funeral services for Jerry deMontigny, 72-year-old former Buffalo resident who passed away early Friday morning at the Johnson County Health Care Center, will be held Friday, May 21st at 10:00 a.m. at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with Father Pete Johnson officiating.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.  Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services to follow the funeral. Donations in Jerry’s memory may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Online condolences may be made at www.harnessfuneralhome.com The funeral will be live-streamed from the funeral home website.

Gerald Roger deMontigny was born on June 15, 1948, in Sidney, Montana to Emil and Laura deMontigny. He lived in various places throughout Montana and Colorado with his family. Jerry attended Arvada High School in Arvada, Colorado where he played football and graduated as an honor student with the class of 1966. After high school, he moved to Buffalo where he worked on the Lake DeSmet Dam project and later worked for Spring Creek Coal. He was married on November 29, 1969, to Sharon Ramsey and they made their home in Buffalo where they raised their five children. Following a divorce in 1991 he moved to Tennessee where he was a heavy equipment operator.  He was married in 1997 to Dorothy McCormick and they lived in White House, Tennessee.  They moved back to Wyoming and Dorothy passed away in 2019 in Medicine Bow. Jerry continued living in Medicine Bow and working for Oftedal Construction until his death.

Jerry was an accomplished musician and played bass traveling with the Fugitives, a family band that entertained in Wyoming and Montana.  He was an avid photographer and enjoyed photographing the wildlife of all sorts and many sports events. He had several photographs published in Wyoming Wildlife, one of which was its Cover. He is survived by three sons, Paco deMontigny and his wife Lori and Tom deMontigny and his wife Linda all of Hendersonville, Tennessee and Wick deMontigny of Billings, Montana; two daughters Talia Tegdesch and her husband Louis of Buffalo and Wendi deMontigny and her partner Shawn Strohschein of Wright, Wyoming; one sister Linda Buell of Buffalo; fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, and one brother-in-law Chuck Buell.
