On Sunday, September 27, at 5:30 p.m. The Clearmont Community Center and Library will hold their 50th Annual Fundraising Dinner and Auction.

While usually held in the basement of the Community Center, this year the event will be held in the gym at the Clear Creek Recreation Center.

Supper will be ribs and cheesy potatoes, and the cost is $15 per plate. Everyone attending is asked to bring a dessert to share, or to be auctioned off.

There will be many donations from area businesses, and as well as homemade desserts and breads which always sell well in the auction. Donations are always appreciated.

Brannian Auctions, LLC will again donate their expertise and some comedy to the event as well.

There are raffle tickets now on sale from foundation board members or at the Clearmont Library. Items include a Weatherby Vanguard Black Hills 6.5 Creedmore rifle; a meat package from G&K meat in Buffalo; a date night package with a stay in a hotel, dinner at Frackeltons and an activity. Tickets are $10 each or 6 for $50.

The Clearmont Community Library Foundation started in the early 70s, when a group of Clearmont residents purchased the old Garretson Store Building on Front Street for $1. The old building, built in 1904, had been general store for many years, but by 1972, it had been neglected for many years.

The group, with the help of high school shop class, cleaned up the building, replaced the roof, put down new flooring, added bathrooms and kitchens.

The building now houses the Clearmont Library, a branch of the Sheridan County Library system, as well as providing meeting and activity spaces for the community.

Money raised helps to maintain the center and continue to make it available for community use, free of charge.

All are welcome to attend and help to keep the Clearmont Community Center a vibrant part of the Clearmont Community.
