Two Sheridan High School Bronc athletes will continue to run as Yellow Jackets after they graduate.

Seniors Reese Charest and Katie Turpin have signed letters of intent to run cross-county and track and field at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota.

Charest placed 16th at the 4A State Cross Country meet this past October and was the 4A State Runner-Up in the 800 meter run during the 2021 indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.

He says he lived in Spearfish before and still has family there.

As for his interest in running, he says a friend suggested it to him, while playing another sport and has been doing it for about six years.

Turpin was 5th at the 2020 4A State Cross Country meet and was part of the 4A State Runner-Up 4 by 800 meter relay team during the 2021 indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.

She says a number of former team-mates currently run for Black Hills State and it was her former junior high school coach who encouraged her to compete in more than one track and field event.
