Bronc Football Ready to Open 2021 Season / American Legion Baseball Regional Opens in Gillette Today / Rockies Whip the Cubs

SHERIDAN BRONC FOOTBALL – The start of the 2021 high school fall sports season is Monday the first day of football practice for 4-A schools.

The Bronc coaches and seniors leave for their mountain camp tomorrow and culminate the week with their player / parent meeting Sunday afternoon,

Head coach Jeff Mowry says the camp starts the senior leadership process for this year’s Bronc squad.

Monday morning when the players take the field there will be several players at new positions and a few coaches will be assuming new roles as well and Jeff says they all have to be on the same page as the week begins.

The Broncs open the 2021 season on August 27th at Laramie.

AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL – The American Legion Northwest regional baseball tournament starts today in Gillette.

There are four games today Yakima, Washington plays the Billings Royals at 9:30 then Idaho Falls plays Helena, Montana at 11:30 the evening double header has Eugene, Oregon playing Cheyenne at 4:30 followed by Gillette taking on Eagle River, Alaska.

ROCKIES BASEBALL – The Rockies routed the Cubs, 13-6 as Elías Díaz hit a grand slam and Kyle Freeland got his first win in more than a month. Freeland gave up two runs over five innings before being removed with a left foot contusion.

Sam Hilliard also homered and CJ Cron had three hits and three RBI for Colorado.

BRONCO FOOTBALL – The Denver Broncos play their opening preseason game on August 14th at Minnesota.
