TROOPER BASEBALL – The Sheridan Troopers swept a double header from Spearfish, South Dakota Thursday night they took the first game 3-2 and came back scoring eight runs in the bottom of the first inning in the second game and won 17-7.
They’ve now have won 13 of their last 15 and are now 40-18 on the season Head coach Ben Phillips said they started slow but got rolling as the night went along.
Now they get a nice break for a few days before heading to a tournament next week in Dickinson, North Dakota.
And Phillips says they will see a bunch of good teams in North Dakota next week.
Next Troop home games will be on the 13th when they host Post 6 from Cheyenne.
ROCKIES BASEBALL – Elías Díaz hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Colorado Rockies a rain-delayed 5-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals, spoiling Nolan Arenado’s return to Coors field.
Arenado went hitless in four at-bats in his first game in Denver since Colorado traded him to St. Louis in the offseason. he popped out to first in his first two trips to the plate and grounded out in his last two.
Díaz turned on an 0-2 slider from reliever Giovanny Gallegos to win it. Brendan Rodgers also homered and Daniel Bard won in relief for the Rockies, who have won four straight.
