Hockey is a 3-period game, and this past weekend the Sheridan Hawks had to re-learn that lesson.

The team dropped both home games vs. Bozeman, by scores of 4-2 and 5-2.

For the most part, the opposition needed just 1 particular period of each game, to score all of their goals.

Assistant Coach Mahkai Sparks explains what went wrong.

“I think it’s just the matter of us coming out slow in certain periods and different parts of the game. I don’t think we lost the game 100% just through time, I think we lost through different shifts of the game. I think there was different shifts, we had breakdowns that led to goals for them.

The Hawks are still in 2nd place in the NA3HL’s Frontier Division, but there are a couple of teams breathing down their neck.

One of those teams is Rapid City, who visits Sheridan this weekend for a 2-game series.

The opposition currently holds the final playoff spot, but they’re only 3 points behind the Hawks, with 1 ½ months to go in the regular season.

The puck drops on both Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm.
