All that time that the Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey Team spent on the road in the first half of the season is about to be rewarded.
The team starts the second half of the season with a 10-game homestand, which encompasses all of January, as well as the early portions of February.
Up first is a 2-game series vs. Butte, and as far as the playoffs are concerned, the Irish are a team on the outside looking in, but they’re not that far behind, with some time remaining.
Hawks Head Coach J.J. Santagata says Butte is in a similar spot that Sheridan was in this time last year.
“Butte is in a spot right now, where every game is a do or die game for them. They’re trying to make the playoffs obviously, so they have no games to waste. We split with them earlier in the year, when we played in their home, so we know what we’re going to get. They’re a good team, they score a ton, so we know we’re going to get an offensively gifted team. We just have to slow them down a little bit offensively and just hopefully, take our chances here and there, win the special teams game and just, the little details of the game that we’ve been preaching all year, hopefully they come together for a full 60 and we just do our job.”
The puck drops on Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm.
